Visiting the NICU
Well.. were on the hunt for a new vehicle for Dennis. He has had such bad luck with his truck lately. A couple weeks ago his door almost fell off while he was driving. He had to bungee it shut and get in Dukes of Hazard style for the last couple of weeks. This past thursday night while pulling into a parking lot, his truck got clothes lined by a wire that was strung across the driveway. He didn't see it because it was dark and wasn't marked with anything. It tore his driver side tire to shreds and destroyed the front fender and lights. We had to have it towed home. He needed a new car for work anyways, but hopefully we can find something affordable.
Other than that, things have been chugging along. Were still not getting any sleep, except for Tegan. We are trying to switch her back to regular formula, the hypoallergenic kind is super expensive. So far she seems to be doing well. Still pooping, and no more gas than usual. I've also decided that we need to be more diligent about having a bedtime routine. We haven't been very good with it for many reasons: sometimes Dennis is home late, or were just plain tired. But starting tonight were starting a new plan. Were going to try something like this:
1) Bath around 7ish
2) Lotion/Massage
3) PJs
4) Book & Bottle
5) Bed! Whether asleep or not.
I know it's going to take time to get her used to this. But I think it will be worth it in the end. Right now we give her a bath and bring her down stairs while we eat and watch TV. And I think she's just getting too much stimulation. We'll see how it goes!!!
Today we also baked chocolate chip cookies to take to the NICU nurses. They were so surprised by how big Tegan was. Here is the picture we made to put on their baby board
I can't believe we were there 4 months ago.. Time sure has flown..

Feb 2010
I can't believe it's already almost March. And I can't believe Tegan will be 4 months old tomorrow! I'm so tired, but she's so cute. And she's so much more fun now.. She's smiling, and talking. No giggles yet, but I can't wait.
Let's see since my last blog.. she's gotten so much bigger! She weighed 12 lbs 9.5 oz at her 3 month check up. She's got little rolls all over.
She also got her ears pierced! Her first trip to the Tattoo Parlor! But no tattoos till she's 18!
Awww.. I felt so bad! I was so nervous for her, but she did fine.
Oh ya! She's also pooping now!! At least once a day on her own (well.. with the help of a daily apple juice bottle).. sometimes more than once! It's great! I still get excited when she poops, which is strange I know. But after having so much difficulty with it, I can't help it!
She's still not sleeping through the night. She's up every 4 hours or so, sometimes more frequently. I'm breast feeding still, but I'm not making as much milk since going back to work. So were still supplementing with formula. We have to give her a hypo-allergenic formula because of all the colic and gas she has had with the others.
She's also rolling from her belly to her back and can hold her head up for quite awhile on her own. She's discovered her hands and put's them in her mouth constantly. I also think she's teething! Tonight, she stuck her fingers so far in her mouth it made her gag!
Overall, things are good. I'm back to work, and trying to get back into the swing of things. Dennis is working, and fixing up my parent's house in his spare time. Life is good...

Prune juice??!!
Tegan had a doctor appointment today with Dr. Tim, her pediatrician. She has gone from weighing 4lbs 7oz when she was born, to 10lbs 1oz at her visit today! She's getting so big! Overall, she's doing great. her only issue has still been all the gas and not being able to poop. We have been giving her a suppository every other day because she grunts and grunts but can't seem to get the job done. Today, the doctor suggested giving her prune juice. Prune juice for babies?! So this afternoon we gave her 1 oz of prune juice mixed with 1 oz of water. She seemed to like it ok, sucked it right down. I was hoping for a blow out, strange I know. Her belly is rather round and I'm not sure if it's because she just has a big belly, or she's full of poop! Well at around 6:30p, she did it!! She pooped! I was getting ready to give her a bottle and I felt, and heard it in her diaper. Plus she scrunched her face up and turned red, something I fondly call her pooping face (except she's never actually been able to poop). And strangely enough, I was actually excited to look in her diaper and see what was there, LOL. Well.. I look to early cause she about shot me with poop, but missed me and got it all over her changing table. And of course I was home by myself at this time, plus she was screaming because she wanted to eat. Loads of fun. But most importantly she pooped all by herself! And then she did it again after her bath! So needless to say, I think the prune juice worked and we will be giving it to her more often. I don't think I've ever been so excited about someone pooping before (except myself when I was pregnant, TMI, I know). Prune juice = happy baby and mommy.
She also got her first immunization today, her DTP and rotavirus. Our doctor offers an alternative vaccination schedule, so she will have to go in once a month to get a shot. The regular immunization schedule would have had her getting 4 injections plus the oral. Which is craziness! To me at least! I would feel horrible watching her get 4 injections.
Lastly, the countdown had begun. Actually it began about 12 weeks ago. Only one more week till I go back to work... Not excited.. but I'll live. It will be nice to have my income back. Less stress, money wise on me and Dennis. And we can get caught back up on bills and re-fill our depleted savings. Thank god for grandparents.. we couldn't have survived without them.
Here's some new pictures of the Teg...

Resolutions
So I had my resolutions for this year picked out..
1)Save money to buy a house next year
2)Get back to my pre-pregnancy weight
and I was all ready to get the ball rolling yesterday (monday, was my chosen REAL day to start anew). I was going to start running and doing the Wii fit on alternating days, but Tegan decided against it. She started out fussy the night before and then decided to be on the boob for 4 hours on and off monday morning. I don't know how breast feeding can be so exhausting but 4 hours of it was. When she finally got to sleep in her little bouncy chair, I passed out in front of the fire on the floor. So needless to say, I didn't get much of what I wanted to get done yesterday, done. She fell asleep for her night time nap, which lately has been around 9 then she's up again to eat at Midnight. But last night she went down at around 9:30p and I actually had to wake her up at 3am to feed her because I was feeling like I was going to explode. I think she would have slept longer if I hadn't of woken her up. So it was a nice reward to get some extra sleep after a day of fussiness. But I almost feel more tired after getting more sleep, it doesn't make sense!
So I'm going to try again today to get going on my fitness resolutions. Although the cold weather does not make me real motivated. I have to fit into my wedding dress!!
